New Century School Art-From-Trash Ocean Mandala
Bridget completed a project with the k-3 grade students where I am Head of School. The focus was recycling and presenting to students information on the subject through her expertise on the subject. Ms. Parlato's strong beliefs and mission in mobilizing the next generation of being more conscious in their consumer choices and the waste created by these choices was effective and cultivated deep conversations on responsibility and accountability. These inspiring lessons over a few months, evolved into a group project under her direction (with the students) to create a tapestry out of recycled materials in the shape of a mandala in tribute to the Chesapeake Bay and clean water initiatives in Maryland. Bridget was the creative outlet for the entire project from start to finish. Her work and partnership with the students and school has made a great impact. This is the second year we are working with Bridget. The school has a strong sustainable mission that matches Bridget's beliefs and messages. We hope to continue this relationship with her to encourage and provide the youth of tomorrow awareness within the community and globally.
